Welcome to the Irons Research Laboratory
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This laboratory is involved in a variety of research projects primarily focused on behavioral interventions of health risk behaviors. In particular we study contingency management of substance use. We also study choice behavior and physiological effects of substances to inform behavioral interventions. We have recently begun to study behavioral interventions of fitness and classroom behaviors. Below is a list of current research activities:

  • Contingency Management of  smoking cessation

  • Contingency Management of exercise behavior

  • Contingency Management in the classroom

  • Drug effects on delay discounting

  • Relative reinforcing efficacy of drugs and abstinence

  • Physiological effects of caffeine

 This lab works in collaboration with Drs. Bryan Saville, Sherry Serdikoff, Steve Evans, and Tracy Zinn.

        
 

                 
                       About Dr. Irons

  Jessica Irons is an experimental psychologist at James Madison University. She received her PhD from Auburn University in 2007. Jessica is interested in recruiting students who are invested in learning about the research process in the context of her areas of study.
